Ruth Dorothy Hassel was born January 23, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio; she was the third youngest of 9 children born to Charles & Judith Huber. She grew up in Avon, Ohio and attended Holy Trinity Catholic School. In 1st and 8th grade she was chosen to crown our Blessed Mother as May Queen. She graduated from Avon Lake High School and soon thereafter married Dennis F. Hassel July 18, 1946. Together they raised 7 children, Claudia Poole (Joel) of Culpeper, VA, Lyle Hassel (Julie) of Marcellus, NY, Deborah Runyan (David) of Chandler, AZ, Clifford Hassel...

Ruth Dorothy Hassel was born January 23, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio; she was the third youngest of 9 children born to Charles & Judith Huber. She grew up in Avon, Ohio and attended Holy Trinity Catholic School. In 1st and 8th grade she was chosen to crown our Blessed Mother as May Queen. She graduated from Avon Lake High School and soon thereafter married Dennis F. Hassel July 18, 1946. Together they raised 7 children, Claudia Poole (Joel) of Culpeper, VA, Lyle Hassel (Julie) of Marcellus, NY, Deborah Runyan (David) of Chandler, AZ, Clifford Hassel of Lebanon, OR, Nicholas Hassel of LaGrange, OH, and Jennifer Hassel of Coolidge, AZ. Son Michael died accidentally at the age of 6 in 1957.

Ruth and Dennis retired to Sun City, Arizona in 1979. They were active members of St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church. Ruth was a member of the Ladies Guild and Guild Workshop, she also sang with the St. Clement Sanctuary Choir.

She was preceded in death by Dennis in 1996. Ruth is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one sister Jean Wilkins of Michigan, and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 15800 Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ 85351, at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 18, 2016. Visitation will be held at church prior to the funeral mass. She will be laid to rest at Sunland Memorial Park also in Sun City, Arizona.
