Colonel Ralph Vause, 93, of Surprise, Arizona, passed away, Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at his home.

Colonel was born July 29, 1921 in The Dalles, Oregon to Francis Freeman Vause and Vera Jacquetta Child.

Colonel attended Reed College in Oregon where he met and married Charmion Giovanna Balbo. Shortly thereafter Colonel joined the Army Air Corp and they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. In 1945 they relocated to California where they remained until moving to Arizona in 1977.

Colonel loved the outdoors whether it was hunting in the wilds of Montana, walking miles every morning before the sun came up or just driving out into the desert. For years he had a garden in the backyard of their home in Sun City which was adjacent to a golf course. When the vegetables matured he would pick them and give to the golfers as they "played through".

Colonel was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various capacities, including bishop, high councilman, and temple worker. He also served with the Boy Scouts of America and was a member/chairman of the local school board.

Colonel was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Charmion. He is survived by his wife Susie Reno Vause, son Rande Vause, daughters Kristan Monson and Charmion Simms, sister Attellia Vause Berg, 10 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
